BOATBOOT - EASY TO WEAR IN ANY WEATHER, ALL YEAR ROUND!

BOATBOOT was developed at our small "dockside office" located in the Norwegian archipelago, just a step away from the water’s edge, surrounded by seagull calls and the sound of gentle waves.

We strive to design high-quality waterproof leather boots that strike the perfect balance between functionality and style.

At BOATBOOT, we see footwear as a craft. While our boots may be sewn and lasted by machines in a shoe factory, creating a pair of BOATBOOTS requires a deep understanding and expertise throughout the entire process.

The journey from concept to finished BOATBOOTS is long, and it’s only when we are confident in every detail that we begin producing the soles, lasts, patterns, and cutting the leather for further production.

Our BOATBOOTS are made in a small factory in Portugal, with whom we’ve had a long-standing collaboration. Our colleagues at the factory offer us invaluable insight into the development and production process, and the factory upholds the highest standards of quality and craftsmanship under fair and sustainable conditions.

With nearly 30 years in the footwear industry, we’ve learned a thing or two about our craft, and we believe these insights make a difference when you start wearing your BOATBOOTS, whether on a slippery boat deck or dock, on a coastal walk on a wet, rainy summer day, or on a muddy stroll down the street with your dog.

BOATBOOTS are our true passion, and we love working with colleagues who share that same love for footwear. That’s why we produce our boots in close collaboration with our factory in Portugal, where they have long-standing traditions of crafting high-quality waterproof footwear.

OUR FACTORY

We are incredibly proud of the factory that produces our BOATBOOTS. Through our close collaboration, we have built strong and lasting relationships. The factory we work with is a relatively small facility located in the countryside, and the tannery we partner with, located nearby, exclusively supplies vegetable-tanned cowhide in compliance with REACH and the Leather Working Group standards.

All of our production is based in Portugal, and all materials and components for our products are sourced within a 20 km radius. Leather, linings, soles, laces, and even our shoe boxes are made just around the corner. This close proximity to materials allows us to develop and produce our products sustainably with minimal environmental impact.

Choosing to manufacture our BOATBOOTS in Portugal not only ensures exceptional craftsmanship, expertise, and high quality, but it also reflects our commitment to sustainable development and production.

Portugal’s rich history and tradition in shoe manufacturing are now paired with modern factories that employ innovative techniques focused on more sustainable production. This includes UV light cleaning, factory recycling systems, minimizing emissions, reusing as much material as possible, and even generating electricity through new solar power installations.

SUSTAINABILITY

Sustainable development and production are values we truly cherish in our business, and we take great pride in our supply chain, which is primarily focused on local or regional production. This allows for short transportation distances and distribution directly from our production facilities.

PRODUCTION TO MARKET

Our production in Portugal gives us a valuable opportunity to shorten the distribution chain to our customers, further reducing our environmental impact. As Portugal is an EU member state, our boots are shipped by a logistics company that complies with EU regulations on emissions and working conditions. The shipping company we use is also a member of CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) and is committed to sustainable development in environmental, social, and economic aspects.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Since all our development and production take place in Portugal, we are able to visit the factory and our suppliers up to four times a year, ensuring full transparency throughout the production process. A positive work environment and good working conditions for all employees are also of great importance to us. We are proud to collaborate with a factory run by people who share the same values as we do.
